A Pandemic, Tropical Storm, and WWII Flyby (Oh my!)

When Elisa called SunQuest’s Kristi Summerlin, she had just canceled the wedding that her and fiance, Joshua, were planning for over two years. Originally planned in Mexico, Elisa and Joshua’s plans quickly changed as COVID-19 threatened their destination wedding. Elisa informed Kristi that the couple still wanted to get married on their original date, which was two weeks away. Kristi and the SunQuest team quickly put together a custom Destin Florida wedding package. Once the beach location at James Lee Park was confirmed, SunQuest’s Julie Fabozzi stepped in to plan the details.

The week of the Destin beach wedding, tropical storm Cristobal made an appearance. Elisa and Joshua watched as Cristobal hurled itself through the Yucatan Peninsula. Shocked that they had avoided not one roadblock but two, they looked to Destin for blue skies on their wedding day. Proving that backup plans are sometimes the best plans, Elisa and Joshua said “I Do!” on a beautiful sunny day in Destin, FL.

The night before their big day, Elisa had discovered yet another setback. The ties that she had ordered for her Groom and groomsmen were wrong. After a quick text to Julie, the SunQuest team was able to design new boutonnieres altogether. Delivering the new florals on the morning of the wedding, Elisa was thrilled to see her dream wedding come together.

Once on the beach, the guests arrived at James Lee Park and everything was finally in place for the big day. Elisa had custom-designed the Golden Ring Arbor to feature blue, violet, and white florals. SunQuest’s Officiant, Captain Steve, led the ceremony in front of Elisa and Joshua’s closest family and friends. A surprise to everyone, a WWII Flyby soared across the beach just before the newlyweds said “I Do!”

When Elisa made the tough decision to cancel her original wedding, she never imagined that SunQuest would bring her beach wedding dreams back to life. Hear from Elisa and Joshua below.

“I cannot say enough good things about SunQuest and their team! My wedding was originally supposed to be in Riviera Maya Mexico from June 1st to June 8th but with the pandemic that came about we had to go through the whole process of canceling flights, our trip, and our dream wedding. With all hope lost we gave SunQuest a call and spoke with Kristi and told her our situation and she said getting a wedding together in 2 weeks is no problem. She handed us off to Julie who is an absolute angel to help us pull our special day together! We worked with her every day up until the wedding and she was amazing and helped us make our nightmare of a wedding turn into our dream wedding in Destin, Florida! We got to Destin and we met with Julie a few days before the wedding to go over some last-minute changes and make sure everything was good to go for the day of! The night before the wedding we thought everything was good to go until the groomsmen tried on their wedding attire and we absolutely hated the ties we bought for them. Again Julie came to my rescue. I texted her at 10:30 pm explaining what was going on and she said no problem and had the florist make a more colorful boutonniere for the groomsmen so they wouldn’t have to wear a tie. Let me tell you it really came together and I absolutely loved everything about the girls and guys attire for the day of! Then came wedding day and Julie dropped off the florals bright and early and I saw my bouquet and I fell in love immediately! All the florals we exactly what I envisioned! About 30 minutes before the ceremony the bridal party headed down to the beach and met Julie to do some last-minute rehearsal. Then my dad and I came out and it was showtime! The music, the lighting, the decor, the weather, the bridal party, everything was perfect. I couldn’t believe we had pulled it off. And to make it even better some World War II planes flew over during our ceremony which was one of the collect things I have ever seen.
